The Vale of Evesham School is a Specialist School for Cognition and Learning and recognised as an outstanding school (March 2013). The school caters for pupils who have moderate, severe and profound learning difficulties. Approximately 50% of pupils have Autism, including those with challenging behaviour. The school also has a residential provision (judged as Outstanding – Ofsted 2015) for weekly boarders, which ensures that we offer a 24 hour curriculum for 15 pupils.
The two posts that are available will offer the opportunity to develop your teaching skills in either the early years or primary department of this specialist school. Throughout the year you will develop a clear understanding of the stages of early child development and how to apply these in planning engaging learning opportunities. The knowledge and skills developed, including an understanding of specific learning difficulties and how to effectively address these, will enable you to move forward successfully in your chosen career, whether you choose to remain in a special school environment or to apply your knowledge within a mainstream setting.
By the end of the year you will have been given the opportunity to fully grow and develop your professional expertise in order to meet the National Standards for Teachers. This will be an exciting opportunity for anyone interested in entering the early years or primary teaching profession and particularly for those with a specific interest in young people with additional needs.
